Costume

Sam Parker:

For my film opening I am aiming to create a sense of verisimilitue and therefore I would like Sam to represent a middle class young man who works in a bank and is required to wear a suit. I would like him to wear a white shirt to connote his innocence as before the spread of the zombie virus, he was just an innocent man enjoying his life. Also, the protagonist in horror films is often found to be wearing white or light coloured clothes in order to connote innocence. I would like him to be wearing a red tie to connote and foreshadow the danger that is yet to come. I would like Sam to be middle class to attract Category C1 and C2 audience members awell as my target audience which mainly consists of Category D and E members.

Alex Summers:

Like Sam, Alex is a representation of the modern middle class woman. She is young, fashionable and has a reasonable job as a journalist. I would like her to be dressed in a smart casual work attire that highlights her young age and her fashion sense. Similarly, she will be dressed in a white shirt which will connote her innocence. Also like Sam, i would like Alex to be of middle class so that more audience members can relate to her, particualy members from Category C1 and C2 aswell as my target audience of Catergory D and Category E members.

Dead body 1:
The first dead body seen in my film opening will be laying on the doorstep with a baseball bat in hand. I would like this character to be a woman because it sticks to the generic horror convention where women are often victims to the antagonist. I would like this victim to be a young adult who is of a similar age to my target audience of 16-25 which will mainly consist of Category D and E members.

Body number 2:
The second dead body in my horror film opening will be found laying on a rug in Sam's front room with a mobile phone which has a received text in his hand. I would like this character to be a young male who is reasonably dressed who conforms to the modern world that my audience members can relate to. I am using this character to attract many young audience members, particuarly from Category D and i aim to attract a large amount of students and under 25'swho are found to be the highest film consumers of horror films.
